Fan, cofounder and partner of Yuanben, has extensive experience in patent prosecution. Fan practices on domestic and international patents, with her expertise in mechanical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutics and material science. She represents clients on patent prosecutions before SIPO and trademark registrations before Trademark Office of SAIC. Fan also represents clients on patent invalidation and infringement cases.

Fan had been employed by SIPO for 11 years as a patent examiner and earned her title as senior patent examiner in 2001. During her employment by SIPO, Fan reviewed over 800 patent applications. At the same time, she noticed that considerable amount of applications were rejected due to poor preparations and inappropriate claims. Moreover, even though some applications were granted patents, the inventions involved could not be fully protected. Based on these observations, Fan decided to become a patent attorney to help patent applicants closely protect their inventions and achieve their business objectives. In 2005, she joined Kelong International Intellectual Property Agent LTD as a patent attorney. In 2007, she founded her own patent firm, Yuanben.

Fan got her BA and MS from the Technical School of Beijing Forestry University. She received training from European Patent Office in 2001. Fan is an expert for intellectual property juridical appraisement and a member of All-China Patent Agents Association.
